Ronald Headland was born in Montreal and completed his studies in music at McGill University and also at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School of Art and Design. Headland was a member of Graphia 3710, a Montreal printing atelier (1977-1990). He taught in the Music Department at Vanier College, Montreal (1977-2008).
